Ingredients for Broccoli Onion Casserole
- 2 lb (550 g) broccoli florets
- 1 large (260 g) onion, sliced
- 2 tbsp. (10 g) olive oil
- 3 tbsp. (25 g.) butter
- 2 tbsp. (25 g.) all-purpose flour
- 5 cup (355 ml.) milk (any kind will work)
- 5 cup (100 g.) grated cheddar cheese, fat reduced
- ½ tsp. garlic powder
- ½ tsp. onion powder
- ½ tsp. oregano
- ¼ tsp. black pepper
- ½ tsp salt or to taste
- 1/4 cup (25 g.) crumbled croutons
How to Make Broccoli Onion Casserole
- In a large pot, bring water to boil, add the broccoli florets and boil for 2 minutes. Drain the broccoli in a colander and rinse with cold water to stop the cooking
- Place the broccoli in a medium casserole dish; set aside.
- Heat a medium saucepan on medium-high, melt the butter, then add the flour and cook, stirring, until it turns to light golden. Gradually pour in the milk while whisking.
